Tea McGregor was born in Gainesville, FL and lives and works in their native city. They share a home with their spouse and three pets. Group exhibitions have been held at the GFAA: Black Cosmologies (2026), Santa Fe College for the Student Juried Show (2023), and the Harn Museum of Art Staff Show (2023). They have achieved the Dean’s List at University of Florida for 2024-2026 and graduated with their BFA in 2026. They were nominated by UF faculty and staff to go to the Yale Norfolk Summer Program in Spring 2025.

My work revolves around examining and experiencing the feminine both as an artist and as a viewer. Though also an oil painter, I primarily work through my ideas with textiles as the materiality of fabrics and related items speak deeply to gender, sexuality, class and race/ethnicity. My goal is to provide a sensorial experience- through touch, observation, and scale- to the viewer to create a deeper association between the body and mind than text or other vehicles of ideas.

My work rests in the hands of intersectional feminism and exists as struggle. I stitch together materials as my identity has stitched itself as one, and I look to envelop the audience in the struggle to understand oneself within the world around us.
